Melody's host went all out decorating for Easter and put out many wonderful decorations! Melody was so impressed! People in Canada rarely decorate that much, especially since Spring is often barely beginning at Easter time.

Ivan and Masha in Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada - July 2020

Image
Ivan and Masha arrived in Gatineau at the beginning of July 2020, during the COVID-19. Since the host prefers to avoid taking the bus because of the pandemic, and sometimes, walking takes too long, one of the first outings that she took Masha and Ivan on was to Canadian Tire, to buy herself a bike. The host had not riden a bike for almost 25 years, so she was a little bit afraid that she wouldn't be able to anymore, but she was wrong to worry. It looks like riding a bike really is something that one always remembers how to do! It is the tallest hill people can travel by the normal way. It's name is Lantau Peak (鳳凰山). I took many photos and videos for recording. I sent you some of them. On 26th of June, Picky and I go to Central general Post Office to join a small meet-up activity without meet-up card. I took some photos for Pinky. He also make a new friend "three hair" (the potato in the photo). I will send you a meet-up card of the meet-up activity held on 14th of June. On 29th of June(yesterday), Picky and I went to Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office to post postcards. I took some photos for Picky on the way. Hope...

Image
I once again received a wonderful email chock-full of interesting information, links and photos from Anastasia about how she, accompanied by Pinky, celebrated the New Year! Here it is : "Hi! Most of the photos in this story will be blurry because it was quite difficult to take pictures in the dark, hope you'll understand it... Right now Pinky and I are drinking a home-made latte and thinking about the fun we had yesterday!  But first, let me tell you about the greatest event in Russia which unfortunately my family celebrates less and less thought the years - New Year, or Novy God (Новый Год). Why New Year, you ask, why not Christmas? Well, Christmas is a religious holiday and in the Soviet Union religion was banned so Christmas became illegal. People were still celebrating it but secretly, however, Novy God became the whole-country spread. Also, Russia unites people of ALL religions so we have a holiday for everyone in the country. Russian people used to ...
