Ottawa in winter

Of course, in Canada, there's also winter. Here's a few photos of what winter looks like here.

This photo shows the side of St. Andrew's Presbytherian church (http://www.standrewsottawa.ca/who-we-are/the-building/). It is located downtown and is a beautiful church! I used to pass it on my way to work every single day. Saint Andrew is the patron saint of the Scots (a lot of settlers of Canada came from Scotland), so this church has a "Scottish" personnality and the Scotland flag floats above the church entrance. One can attend organ concerts for free there during the summer and the church also holds fantastic bazaars in the Spring and in the Fall.

This photo shows the Supreme Court of Canada, on Wellington street, just in front of St. Andrew's church. The lawns in front of the Supreme Court are a very popular spot in summer : there is often a game of Ultimate Frisbee going on there! I like this aspect of the life, here: that the lawns of such an important and formal building can also be used for team sports during the summer evenings. The same goes for the Parliament buildings, which are located on a large piece of land overlooking the Ottawa River that is fully accessible and where people can go for a stroll, a picnic, to play ball, etc. Several years ago, there were even a shelter for stray cats right behind the Parliament buildings (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Parliamentary_Cats). I used volunteer there. There are light and sound shows in the summer and around Christmas, yoga session on the lawn in the summer, and, of course, demonstrations all through the year!
