Gatineau Park

Gatineau Park (or Parc de la Gatineau in French) is a large national park located in Gatineau, where I live. It spans kilometers upon kilometers of land right in the city and contains several lakes, beaches, mountains, bike paths, walkways. People go there to hike, cycle, swim and bathe in summer, and to hike, snowshoe and ski in the winter. It's a wonderful place!

Ivan and Masha in Ottawa-Gatineau - Exploring the Sentier des voyageurs - July 25th 2020

Saturday July 25th was a beautiful day, so the host decided to take Ivan and Masha on a bike ride to explore the Sentier des voyageurs (Travellers Pathway), that runs along the Ottawa River, on Gatineau's side. They ended up travelling 20 km in total (both ways)! It was the longest ride that the host had been on since she buying her new bike! :-) On the way over to the Sentier des voyageurs, the host showed Ivan and Masha the ruisseau de la Brasserie (Brewery Creek -  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruisseau_de_la_Brasserie ) as well as the pont de la Tour Eiffel (Tour Eiffel bridge -  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_Eiffel_Bridge ). Ottawa in winter

Of course, in Canada, there's also winter. Here's a few photos of what winter looks like here. This photo shows the side of St. Andrew's Presbytherian church (http://www.standrewsottawa.ca/who-we-are/the-building/). It is located downtown and is a beautiful church! I used to pass it on my way to work every single day. Saint Andrew is the patron saint of the Scots (a lot of settlers of Canada came from Scotland), so this church has a "Scottish" personnality and the Scotland flag floats above the church entrance. One can attend organ concerts for free there during the summer and the church also holds fantastic bazaars in the Spring and in the Fall. This photo shows the Supreme Court of Canada, on Wellington street, just in front of St. Andrew's church. Tiny in Bangkok, Thailand - Late October 2019

Tiny was given a Thai name, Jidrid ("tiny" in Thai), by his host in Bangkok, who took him out for lunch and then to an antique and fair market and to a K-pop fair. He also had the opportunity to check out the Bangkok subway! Here's what his host (Medileen) sent me : Day 1 - October 25th 2019 "Finally, Tiny just arrived from Canada. It's a bit hard for him because of the weather here. I told him that it's autumn but he never knew kind of autumn in Thailand. It's about 95F. I took him for the first lunch in Thailand. It's called Pepper lunch. The raw meat with vegetables and rice are placed on the hot plates, that you can cook them with sauce and pepper before you eat it. The meat and its taste can be whatever depending on your preference. This is Tiny and I've got a thai name! The host called me 'Jidrid' it means Tiny in Thai."
