Shopping and sightseeing (before COVID-19 confinement)

"So today i did some shopping with American host mom ... there was this caft store that is going out of business so me and host mom stopped in to see if they had anything good left ... and boy o boy did host mom came home with bags filled of stuff ... she got alot of little gifts to give out to her students for xmas next year (host mom works in school) but she also got some other things for her self ... all of these things only costed $ 12 USD which is really cheap compare to its regular price ... host mom loves a "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS DEALS AND PRICES!!! "










"So after going shoping with American host mom ... she took me to see some sites in her hometown ... 1st was Monument dedicated to the people who gave their life to fight the war back in the day ,Next we stopped at one of the oldest Churches in her town... then our last stop was at the local Library to read up on some history on her city ... i had a very nice day overall :)"

Ivan and Masha in Canada - Summer outings - August 2020

Ivan and Masha were able to join their host on several nice outings in August: One nice Friday evening, after work, the host decided to take Masha and Ivan on a pizza picnic at the park. First, they went to Pizza Pizza, a fast food chain, to buy and small pizza, a can of Coke and a small bag of chips, and then they headed to the Domaine Fairview to eat quietly in nature while reading a magazine. The next day, the host took Ivan and Masha to a free concert in a local park by a classical music group that plays Tango Nuevo (mainly music composed by Astor Piazzola).  Afterwards, they went and toured the outdoors Recycl'Art exhibition, by the side of Brewery Creek. They enjoyed looking at the various sculptures made by local artists using recycled materials: Details of the giant high heel shoe shown below, that was made using thousands of pop can tabs weaved together (apparently, the artist worked on that project for several years!). Ivan and Masha explore the touristic area of downtown Ottawa - August 1st 2020 (part 1)

On Saturday August 1st, 2020, their host took Ivan and Masha to visit Ottawa. The Byward Market area : Since they are on their honeymoon, Ivan and Masha threw a coin in this fountain and wished for a long and happy life together! On Sussex Drive (it's the street on which the official prime minister's residence’s is located!) : The American embassy : A nice display on the front window of a hat maker : Standing inside the Reconciliation monument (in honor of Canadian Peacekeepers) : The National Art Gallery : Maman (mommy), by sculptor Louise Bourgeois, the giant spider that stands guard in front of the National Art Gallery. In Summer, it gets all warm from the sun! The Ottawa Cathedral : Electric scooters have just been introduced in Ottawa. People can rent them, and leave them wherever when they are done with them. Terry Fox was a young Canadian who lost his leg to cancer at age 18 and decided to run across Canada, starting from Newfoundland, to raise money for cancer research. He made it all the way to Ontario and ran the equivalent of a marathon (42 km) each day for 143 days (with just one leg - can you imagine the determination and the will it must have taken?) before he got too ill to continue.
