Pinky's travel to the Maldives - 1st week of December 2019

During the first week of December, Pinky travelled to the Maldives with Anastasia, her Russian host! What a fun opportunity : I'm sure she'll have a fantastic trip!

Here's what I received from Nastya :

« Our trip to the Maldives has begun! It took us 24 hours to get here: by car to the airport, twice by plane (5 hours each flight: Moscow-Dubai, Dubai-Male) and by hydroplane to the island. Now we’re here and we’re excited!

I send you some pictures from the trip.
We flew by Emirates (economy class) which is a very good company. They’re famous for their First Class where on A-380 (the biggest plane in the world) people have separate rooms all for themselves! But it’s very expensive so we choose economy class. Though the flight was comfortable. Pinky and I watched some movies including Aristocats. It’s such a cute cartoon! :) 

I also send you a picture with Maldivian language. It looks so quirky! 

Right now we’re at a restaurant enjoying our meal. Then we’ll go to a fancy party where we’ll meet other guests of the hotel and people who work here! »

Ivan and Masha were able to join their host on several nice outings in August: One nice Friday evening, after work, the host decided to take Masha and Ivan on a pizza picnic at the park. First, they went to Pizza Pizza, a fast food chain, to buy and small pizza, a can of Coke and a small bag of chips, and then they headed to the Domaine Fairview to eat quietly in nature while reading a magazine. The next day, the host took Ivan and Masha to a free concert in a local park by a classical music group that plays Tango Nuevo (mainly music composed by Astor Piazzola).  Afterwards, they went and toured the outdoors Recycl'Art exhibition, by the side of Brewery Creek. They enjoyed looking at the various sculptures made by local artists using recycled materials: Details of the giant high heel shoe shown below, that was made using thousands of pop can tabs weaved together (apparently, the artist worked on that project for several years!). Ivan and Masha explore the touristic area of downtown Ottawa - August 1st 2020 (part 1)

On Saturday August 1st, 2020, their host took Ivan and Masha to visit Ottawa. The Byward Market area : Since they are on their honeymoon, Ivan and Masha threw a coin in this fountain and wished for a long and happy life together! On Sussex Drive (it's the street on which the official prime minister's residence’s is located!) : The American embassy : A nice display on the front window of a hat maker : Standing inside the Reconciliation monument (in honor of Canadian Peacekeepers) : The National Art Gallery : Maman (mommy), by sculptor Louise Bourgeois, the giant spider that stands guard in front of the National Art Gallery. In Summer, it gets all warm from the sun! The Ottawa Cathedral : Electric scooters have just been introduced in Ottawa. People can rent them, and leave them wherever when they are done with them. Ivan and Masha explore the touristic area of downtown Ottawa - August 1st 2020 (part 2)

Terry Fox was a young Canadian who lost his leg to cancer at age 18 and decided to run across Canada, starting from Newfoundland, to raise money for cancer research. He made it all the way to Ontario and ran the equivalent of a marathon (42 km) each day for 143 days (with just one leg - can you imagine the determination and the will it must have taken?) before he got too ill to continue.
