Pinky in Dubai – Day 3 – Late December 2019
Dubai, Day 3 - Burj Khalifa!
Another tall building (the tallest of the world!) and another day of discoveries for Anastasia and Pinky!
"Our next day destination was firstly Burj Khalifa - the
HIGHEST building in the whole world! It's 828 meters (2,717 ft) high!
It became in 2009 and still remains the tallest men-built structure! The design
of Burj Khalifa was inspired by a flower - Hymenocallis. It really does look
like a flower if you look from the top to its bottom. The construction of the
tower began in 2004 and in 2010 it was opened for everyone to visit (if you pay
and stay in the infinite line!). But first, we had some doughnuts including a special
one - Red Velvet Cake Doughnut. I just found out it's from the US and I
actually didn't know it because we don't have any in Russia. Well, it was very
unique for me! Red Velvet cakes are everywhere in Dubai - in any cafe you go
to. Unfortunately, I didn't like it... but I think Pinky did!
The observation point is placed on the 124th floor. We
thought the Dubai Frame and its 50 floors were high... well, we have been
thinking after visiting Burj Khalifa, you know!... :) Firstly, there's a huge
queue to the elevators. We spent I think an hour in it! And it wasn't a
straight line, it was like a real maze so more people fit in it. On our way to
the lifts, we got to know some interesting things about the tower and the
process of its building.
The elevators of Burj Khalifa are a bit scary because you
can see how fast they go, the floors just passing by in seconds! And you have
this weird feeling in your ears because of the pressure change. Pinky was brave
though because when I was there for the first time I was almost crying (I was
10!).
The view from the observation point is something. Pinky was
very impressed! And I was afraid I'll accidentally let her fall all the way
down... it didn't happen, don't worry, it was just my fear of THIS height! When
you look at the picture you might think: but it doesn't look very high - the
buildings are seen perfectly and very close! It's because other buildings are
skyscrapers as well. It's so strange to see so many skyscrapers in one place!
Feeling very emotional after Burj Khalifa, we returned to
the main mall of the city - Dubai Mall. The tower and the mall are connected.
There we went to the candy store (Pinky was excited!) to buy Hershey's - we
also don't have them in Russia! Dubai Mall is full of expensive shops. We stopped
by Louis Vuitton stand to take a photo just like if we were buying anything
haha!
And the next place we went to see that day was the Miracle
Garden. It truly is a miracle! It's a place of sculptures made out of flowers:
Duck Tales characters, palaces, a plane, dancing ladies who were actually
turning around... But we were very tired so we didn't have the energy to see
everything, we only went around and saw some sculptures. I think Pinky loved
that place the most and wished she could stay there for a longer time to
discover everything! It was so peaceful and beautiful there!
So, these were Pinky's Dubai Adventures! Now we're heading
to the biggest even in Russia - the New Year!"
