Peko-chan and Supergirl - May 2020 - Playing with food and miscelleanous pictures

Miscelleanous pictures taken during the month of May 2020 :

Peko-chan and Supergirl posing behind wild strawberry plants that grow everywhere over the host's yard. At the end of June, the tiny strawberries will be ripe and ready to be picked up! Yum! :-) In the meantime, there are a ton of very pretty white and yellow flowers:

The catholic church that is located just a short walk from the host's house. It has a very unique architecture and has a special heritage designation:

The host has a neighbour that thinks that real flowers are too much trouble. So, instead, each Spring, he puts up fake flowers in front of his house to brighten it up. Peko-chan and Supergirl taught that it would be amusing to pose for a picture in front of them, just as they did for real flowers.

Since the confinement began, the host learned and invented several new recipes, which Peko-chan and Supergirl were happy to help her cook:

Oatmeal, apples and cranberry cookies:

Peko-chan and Supergirl had fun observing a groundhog (probably a female judging by its small size) that has been coming to feed in the host backyard every day. Groundhogs are very skittish, so the pictures were taken from the host's bedroom window:

A dish that the host invented: sweet potato fries, tofu sticks marinated in barbecue sauce, and cooked broccoli and dried cranberries. It was very good! The host mom only regretted not having made more - she will definitaly make that dish again!

Dessert was this delicious raspberry-lime sorbet! Here in Canada, all food products are labelled both in French and in English (which are the two official languages of the country):

Oatmeal, blueberry and sunflower seeds muffins:

Homemade granola cereal mix:

Pretty views of the Hull sector of Gatineau, one Saturday evening:

A toast covered with cream cheese, a drizzle of maple syrup, clementine sections and sunflower seeds:

The girls taking a nap with Rosie and Bailey, two of the host's cats. Doesn't everyone look comfortable?:

The host's hedgehog, Hector, sniffing the host's shoes after she came back from doing garden work outside. Hector always goes crazy over new smells, sniffing frantically, then producing this thick foam in his mouth and spreading it everywhere on his spikes. He must have smelled something really interesting on the host's shoes that night, because he spent a long time on them!:

The tulips that grow on the host's lawn are now in full bloom! Aren't they magnificent?:

The host's Saskatoon trees are also in full bloom. In July, they will produce a lot of small tasty fruits that the birds adore! In fact, once the birds have spotted the fruits, they usually eat all of them up in the span of just two days! The host said that if she wants to keep some for herself, she needs to be quick! :-)

The host found an interesting looking discarded cupboard door in the trash and transformed it into a decorative item for her house:

Peko-chan and Supergirl helped the host plant vegetable seeds:

Winter Ostergruss radishes:

Purple dragon tongue beans :

This pretty flower that is supposed to attract bees:

Gladioli bulbs:

The sweet peppers that the host had started growing from seeds inside a few weeks ago:

A flowering plant that the host was gifted with by a colleague a few months ago:

It will be interesting to see what grows! :-)
