Peko-chan goes to the grocery store (again, but a different one!)

On March 27th, her host took Peko-chan to a small grocery store that specializes in organic, vegetarian, local, keto and planet-friendly food and beauty products. The host is vegetarian, so she wanted to stock up on delicious vegetarian treats.

Since it's close to the host's house (about 20 minutes by foot), they walked down there and back, and took pictures along the way.

This is not a great picture, but there is a black squirrel sitting at the foot of this tree, eating a peanut. Squirrels stay active all winter long, but they hide in their nest for most of the time to stay warm. Now that Spring is here and the weather is warmer, not to mention that the snow is finally melting, squirrels can be seen everywhere, running around and looking for food :

The grocery store :

Large pictures showing rural life have been plastered to the bottom of the windows of the grocery store. Peko thought that it would be fun to take a picture and pretend that she had been to the country!

Two pictures of the street that the grocery store is on :

Various pictures taken on the way back home from the grocery store :

This is a snack bar (``casse-croûte`in French). It's a type of restaurant that only sells fried, fatty food, like French fries, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, pogos, chicken fingers and poutine, which is a Québec dish made with French fries which are topped with cheese curds and then covered in gravy. Poutine can now be found in the rest of the Canada and in a lot of foreign countries, but it was invented in rural Québec (close to where the host is from) about 50 years ago. People love it here! Most restaurants have some version of it on offer, even some very fancy ones, which sometimes make it with foie gras and other delicacy items.

This is where the host's physiotherapist works :

This is the colorful sign of a store that sells wonderful fancy cheese (most of it Canadian - a lot of different cheeses are made in the province of Québec) and other delicacies :

A Petro-Canada gas station :

Peko decided to have her picture taken in front of the Canadian mailbox that the host uses for most of her outgoing mail :

Once home, Peko decided that it would also be fun to take a few pictures with the host's mailbox, that she arrived in a few weeks ago.
