Pinky's adventures in the subway and at the museum in Moscow – Late November 2019

Pinky is still in Moscow, where she is having a really great time with her host Anastasia!

Here's an account of her latest adventures :

« Hi! I took Pinky to explore the Russian subway! :)

On our way to the Moscow museum, we visited Парк победы (Park pobedy - Victory park), Киевская (Kiyevskaya - well, two of them on different lines) and Парк культуры (Park kultury - Culture park). Moscow Metro was opened in 1935. It consisted of 13 stations and only one line. It was the first ever subway in the Soviet Union. This time we visited one of the deepest stations in the world - Park pobedy. Although, we didn't witness the escalator because we only went there for the transition to another line...
Fact: Moscow Metro is one of the busiest ones in the world! I think the most crowded station I usually go to is Kiyevskaya because it's also a train station to the Oblast' (the Suburbs). In addition, it's a part of the Circle (brown, or 5) line which is very useful if you go to the other side of Moscow.
Moscow Metro is a place where tourists like to take pictures. There're even excursions there and I often see Chinese groups with a guide!

Then we went to some exhibitions at the Moscow museum. The first one was dedicated to Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow which is a scandalous book of 18 century written by Radishchev. Why was it scandalous? It exposed the true state of Russia and the life of peasants. I only read some parts of it back at school but I have this book I found at our summer cottage and I really want to read it. Basically, it's traveler notes about his journey and how he stayed at different places discovering the truth about the common life of people in Russia. The government wanted to kill Radishchev for writing the book but then sent him to Siberia which is also a horrible punishment.
This exhibition was about the history of Moscow and its culture throughout the 20th-21th centuries. On one of the pictures, you see Pinky next to a model of a building. It's Lenin's Mausoleum. The original building is placed in the center of Moscow - Red Square. Lenin is an important figure in Russian history. I'm not trying to praise the communistic ideas or USSR here but Lenin was a very intelligent and wise man. I really love the history of the Soviet Union though it's very difficult to understand and memorize. At this exhibition, I talked to a British couple and translated them a poem from a picture. I was very nervous because I'm afraid of speaking English aloud but this time I was brave enough!...
And the last picture is from the exhibition of Moscow textile. There was a weird smell there so we were constantly coughing, oof...

Today is the day we'll cook a lot! It was my friend's birthday yesterday and she came to our place in the evening. We'll bake some apple buns! :) But my dog has health problems right now so first we'll go to the vet for the needed treatment... »
